Make a custom puzzle that's worth keeping
Most photo puzzle services treat your image as raw material for a novelty item. Puzzably treats it as the starting point for something designed to be kept. Every custom puzzle we produce is printed at 300dpi on 530x390mm premium chipboard, cut to tight tolerances, and packaged in a sleeve box that works equally well as a gift box or a display shelf companion.
Start with your own photo, or choose from the Puzzably catalog of original, artist-designed illustrations. Either way, the result is a 500 or 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle built to be assembled, framed, and shown off.

How it works
1. Choose your image or browse the catalog
Upload a photo from your phone or computer, or pick a ready-made design from Puzzably's collection of original artwork. Every catalog design is created by a credited artist and is exclusive to Puzzably.
2. We run a pre-press check
Before anything goes to print, your image goes through a colour profile check, a sharpness review at output size, and a crop confirmation. If we spot a problem, we flag it before printing. You will not discover an issue when the box arrives.
3. Printed on premium board and precision cut
We print at 300dpi on thick chipboard with a soft-touch laminate finish. Die-cutting is calibrated to our standard 530x390mm finished size, so every piece seats firmly and the assembled puzzle lies flat.
4. Ships in a sleeve box, ready to give or display
Your puzzle arrives in a matte sleeve box with your image printed on the lid. It ships as a finished object, not a pile of pieces in a bag. Slide it onto a shelf, hand it to someone, or frame it when it is done.

The 530x390mm size is deliberate. It matches a standard 50x70cm frame available at most home furnishing stores, so completing and displaying your puzzle requires no custom framing.
500 or 1000 pieces?
500 pieces suits an evening assembly, a gift that will actually get completed, and photographic images where you want the detail visible without squinting. Pieces are larger and more satisfying to handle.
1000 pieces is for the serious puzzler and for catalog designs with intricate linework or dense pattern. The finished puzzle fills the full frame and rewards careful attention.
Not sure? Our recommendation: choose 500 pieces for photos of faces or landscapes, and 1000 pieces for artwork with repeating patterns or fine detail.
Why Puzzably, not a generic photo puzzle service
Most photo puzzle options are sold as impulse gifts. The image is scanned, output at whatever resolution happens to work, and cut on mass-production equipment sized for the cheapest board available. The result is a soft print, flimsy pieces, and a box that looks like a party favour.
Puzzably approaches puzzles as interior objects. That drives different decisions at every stage: heavier board, tighter die-cut tolerances, a frame-sized finished dimension, and packaging that looks deliberate on a shelf. The catalog of original artist designs means you can buy something nobody else owns, not just a photo of your dog reprinted on card stock.
If you are buying a custom puzzle as a gift, those differences are visible the moment the box is unwrapped. If you are buying a ready-made design to display, they are the reason you would keep it.
Who orders a custom puzzle
As a gift. Custom puzzles are among the highest-rated personalised gifts because they are genuinely usable, not just decorative. A family portrait, a favourite holiday photo, or a meaningful piece of art makes a gift with real context and real replay value.
As a home object. The Puzzably catalog is designed to sit in living rooms and home offices, assembled and framed or kept in the box on a shelf. Browse the watercolor and art deco collections if you want something made to look as good assembled as it does in the box.
As a hobby purchase. For puzzle fans who care about piece quality and print fidelity, the difference between a mass-market puzzle and a precision-cut premium one is felt in every piece.
For themed interests. We have original designs for cats, ocean scenes, mountains, Paris, roses, and dozens of other themes. Every theme page has buyable original designs, not just stock photos.
Our promise
Every order goes through a pre-press review before it prints: a colour profile check, a sharpness pass at full output size, and a crop confirmation. If your image will not hold up at 530x390mm, we tell you before we print, not after the box arrives.
Your puzzle is made on premium board, cut into 500 or 1000 pieces, and finished to sit on display in a clear acrylic case. If a puzzle arrives damaged or misprinted, we reprint it.
Frequently asked questions
What image format should I upload?
JPG, PNG, or TIFF at a minimum of 1500px on the short edge. For best results at 530x390mm, aim for 3000px or more on the long edge. We run a sharpness check during pre-press and will let you know if your file is likely to print soft.
Can I customise a catalog design?
Not currently. Catalog designs are sold as originals created by Puzzably artists. The personalised route is to upload your own photo. If you have a specific creative request, contact us and we will try to help.
How long does production and shipping take?
Production takes 3 to 5 business days. US domestic shipping adds 2 to 5 business days depending on your location. International shipping is available; estimated delivery windows appear at checkout.
What is the return or reprint policy?
If your puzzle arrives damaged or there is a print defect, we reprint and reship at no charge. We ask for a photo of the issue. We cannot accept returns on custom orders because each puzzle is made to order, but a quality problem is always our responsibility to fix.
Is the packaging giftable?
Yes. The matte sleeve box has your image printed on the lid and is designed to be given without additional wrapping. If you would like a note included, you can add one at checkout.
Can I frame the completed puzzle?
Yes. The 530x390mm finished size fits a standard 50x70cm frame. We suggest framing with puzzle glue (available at most craft stores) to set the pieces before mounting.
